Modernist Clock | 8 Day
A slight divergence from our usual offerings, we admire this clock because of how subtly it expresses minimalist principles while retaining its compelling Art Deco character with the numerals and accents. With the recent re-emergence of chrome accents and modernist elements in interior design, it adds a contemporary finish to your home.
This LeCoultre clock is a sleek and subtle example in monochrome from the first part of the 20th century. It reflects on a period where the distinctive, late Art Deco features were still being incorporated into early modernist designs. Meanwhile, modernism shines through the materials used and the focus on overall geometry, and the clock teeters between the two key styles of early 20th century design.
The majority of the dial is taken up by black inner chaper, with a lighter, cream coloured ring bearing the numerals. The numerals themselves are highly stylised (look at the fanciful placement of number "10" in particular!), but printed in black to give greater legibility. Brass accents and hands complete the look, while a horizontal line symmetrically divides the clock face. The case is a chrome-plated metal frame with brass caseback, reflecting on its modernist origins.
If sold within the United Kingdom, this LeCoultre clock will be subject to 20% VAT.
