The rope detailing found decorating the surface of the tray is remarkable in its detail, demonstrating the texture and weave of each coiled rope very vividly, as well as a real fluidity to the shape. Meanwhile, the bronze tray has aged over the years, deepening in colour to reveal a rich shade of gold that emphasises the piece's origins and history.
The base of the tray features four stylised legs that elevate the tray slightly, in addition to the engraving "Hermès, Paris", as well as the silversmiths' stamp.

This vintage Hermès candle holder is in good condition, for an object of its age. The bottom shows visible signs of wear on the bottom and some minor scratches on the top. The brass developed a nice, uneven patina throughout, adding a vintage charm.
